Chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, coconut, walnuts and graham cracker crumbs are drizzled with condensed milk to meld together in this extremely rich and super sweet Seven Layer Bar!
Seven layer bars will always remind me of Christmas. My mom has been making this recipe every Christmas for as long as I can remember. Maybe it’s the tradition of it all, or maybe they are just that good- but these are always my favorite treat on Christmas! They are very rich, so I like cutting them in smaller squares. Plus that way you also don’t feel so bad when you eat so many as they are “small” 🙂 .
If you are looking to add a new sweet to your Christmas dessert table, I hope you’ll try my Seven Layer Bar recipe below!
Tell me, what dessert did you grow up having during the holidays? Is it still one of your favorites?
xoxo, Jenna
You’ll Need:
- 1 and a 1/2 cup graham cracker crumbs
- 1/2 cup butter (1 stick)
- 1 bag chocolate chips (I prefer semi-sweet)
- 1 bag butterscotch chips
- 14 ounce can of sweetened, condensed milk
- 1 and a 1/2 cups shredded coconut
- 1 cup chopped walnuts
To Make:
Pre-heat oven to 350 Degrees.
Spray a 9×13 baking dish with non-stick spray. You can also line with parchment paper if you prefer.
Melt stick of butter and add to sprayed dish.
Pour graham cracker crumbs into dish and mix with melted butter to create a crust. Spread the graham cracker crust evenly across bottom of pan.
Sprinkle bag of chocolate chips over crust.
Next, add bag of butterscotch chips.
Pour condensed milk evenly over chips.
Sprinkle with coconut. Press down to help layers meld.
Sprinkle with nuts. Once sprinkled press down on bars.
Bake in oven for 25 minutes.
Allow to cool slightly for 15-20 minutes once removed from oven. While still slightly warm, cut into square bars.
Allow to cool completely before removing from pan. You can put in fridge to speed this up- scoring them while slightly warm as mentioned above, will make it easy to lift the pieces out later.
Eat while listening to Christmas music, watching Elf and wrapping gifts!
