Sur La Table Cooking Class

Sur La Table Cooking Class-Boston Chic PartySur La Table Cooking Class -Boston Chic Party Last weekend my friend, Tanya and I went to a cooking class at Sur La Table. If you aren’t familiar with Sur La Table, they sell all sorts of cooking, dining and entertaining items and also offer hands-on cooking classes in their stores. We attended class at the Copley Place location. The class was a Christmas gift and I was so excited about the theme of the class- 4 desserts every cook should know. As you know, I’m a big fan of dessert!

The format of the class was similar to many other medium sized cooking classes I have taken before in which you worked as a team to prepare the items. In general, my concern with this format is you don’t prepare everything yourself. From a hands-on learning approach, when you go to prepare the items in the future, you may not recall all the intracies of the recipe as you did not do it all yourself. I was not surprised that this was the format at Sur La Table as I knew it was a group setting and not a private event.

The four desserts that Sur La Table believes every cook should know are chocolate souffle, creme brulee, salted caramel cheesecake and pear-almond tart. The desserts we made were delicious. Our favorite was the chocolate souffle. Close second for me was the pear almond tart. I definitely will make the pear-almond tart- I definitely will make it again and look to tweak the recipe over time to my tastes. The chocolate souffle is also something I will definitely plan to make again. The souffle will be great and very impressive I think for individual desserts at a dinner party.

Going into the class, I knew you also received a 10% discount on any items purchased in store after the class. Knowing this I was a bit concerned  that it may become a sales pitch. This was not the case at all- we didn’t feel any pressure (besides from ourselves!) to purchase anything.

I really had a lot of fun at the class and think a Sur La Table cooking class is a great way to spend a morning, afternoon and or evening with your friends, family or your significant other. I’ve already looked into a few of their date night options for a unique date night for MJD and I! Best of all, Sur La Table can be found all across the U.S., so you can find a location near you and try for yourself.

xoxo, Jenna

Jenna, this sounds amazing. I’m so glad you did a review because my husband and I have been wanting to take classes at this exact location (we’re a 5-10 minute walk away) for about a year now. I believe we’ll be taking something for dummies though – bye bye frozen pizza, it’s about time!
