If you follow me on instagram (@bostonchicparty if you don’t!), you already know I spent part of my weekend at Boston’s beautiful Museum of Fine Arts. The MFA is a must-see for both visitors of Boston and residents alike. In addition to all the great pieces the MFA has on display, they have amazing special exhibits and I’m always keeping an eye out for what exhibits they have on display and coming up next. One of these special exhibits that was on my list to visit for a few months now is the Hollywood Glamour Exhibit.
Being that it was Oscars weekend, there really was no better time to visit the Hollywood Glamour exhibit! Beautiful designer gowns and super sparkly jewels worn by some of Hollywood’s greatest actresses make up the amazing exhibit. All the pieces are from between the 1920s to 1940s, giving a real taste of Old Hollywood glamour. Even the room in which the exhibit is in gives off the Hollywood vibe- it’s adorned with sparkling chandeliers and playing a movie loop of some of the gowns on the screen.
As someone who loves fashion and the Old Hollywood era, stepping into this exhibit was like heaven to me. Seeing around a dozen gorgeous dresses from this era up close and personal was breathtaking. Two of the dresses in the collection are original designs of Coco Chanel herself- an awesome sight to see for any fashion lover! The beaded dress in the above photo is one of Chanel’s designs. Though it is certainly hard to choose, my favorite gown was one worn by Greta Garbo in Inspiration (picture below). The velvet gown with beading and rhinestones at the neckline was so perfectly art deco, but in a style that is truly classic. I would love to wear the gown today! Of course I’d probably love to wear any of the gowns… and definitely would love to wear the jewelery 🙂
If you want to see the exhibit, don’t wait- It’s only at the MFA until March 8th! It’s absolutely worth the visit for anyone who loves fashion or movies!
