A few weekends ago MJD and I took a trip out to one of Boston’s Harbor Islands- Spectacle Island. Despite living in Boston for 7 years and MJD living in the area his whole life, neither of us had ever been. Taking a trip to one of the Harbor Islands was on my summer “to-do” list and after some quick research, we settled on spending a day at Spectacle Island. Located a quick 20 minute ferry ride away, Spectacle Island offers one of the only beach areas on the Harbor Islands. We packed a cooler with sandwiches from Flour, some summer beers and set out to have ourselves a beach day. The ferry ride out to the island was beautiful and a great way to see the city from the water. The view on the island is fantastic as well, with the entire Boston skyline visible from your beach towel. Besides the beach, Spectacle Island also has 5 miles of trails for hiking, running and walking. There’s also yoga offered on Saturday mornings during the summer which sounds like an awesome way to start a beach day to me. I’d recommend taking a trip to Spectacle Island to both Boston visitors and locals alike to enjoy both the views and the beach. We had a great beach day on Spectacle Island and I definitely will be back- maybe sometime in the fall to explore beyond the beach!

xoxo, Jenna
