Desk-piration

IMG_7168

After writing this blog for the past year from either our kitchen table, couch or even sitting in bed, I finally decided to invest in a real desk. I wanted a space to call my own, or at least a more official place to blog from, especially one that was less distracting while the hubby watched TV. Living in a small apartment, it was a bit of work finding a desk that would fit in the space we had available and also one that looked good. I settled on this white Safavieh desk via Wayfair and I’m so happy I did. The color and style work well with our neutral, classic bedroom.

Working from a designated space has definitely increased my focus and made me more efficient as I’m less distracted by other things happening in our 700 square foot home. Right now my desk is pretty bare, except for my laptop, wireless mouse and some pink roses I picked up at Whole Foods. Prettying it up and finding a chair I like is next on my list. Here’s some desk-piration I rounded up as I plan to decorate my workspace…

I love how her chair is functional, but also chic! Also loving the subtle pink and green pairing with gold accents…not sure I can pull too much pink into our bedroom, but I’m thinking of other color schemes I can use.

She’s one of my favorite fashion bloggers, so no surprise to me that I love Julia’s office style. This chair in cream would be my dream desk chair.

Since my desk is in our bedroom, I can’t go overly girlie with the décor. I am thinking gold is a good accent color and I’ll be taking cues from Marissa’s desk set up. I love the casual prints hung with gold tape and am a big fan of the fun tassels.

This is my absolutely favorite desk styling. The chair? Swoon! The shelf of framed prints? Love it! And I think it’s great to see the family photographs. If your desk is in a room that serves another purpose like mine (the bedroom), I think photos are the perfect decorative touch. There’s a nice blank wall above my desk so I’m already brainstorming how to fill it…

I have a desk in an office / catch all room – and I never use it!! I even hung photos in the space and organized it. I’m always prone to the couch. These rooms are so relaxing, good inspiration!

Well the couch is more comfy, for sure, Kristen! I hope I can make my nook as relaxing and inspiring too 🙂 xoxo!

Totally obsessed with all of these desks! I can’t wait to graduate college in May so I can get my own place and have a cozy little corner to work!

I need to spruce up my desk space as well! I started with some desk plants and absolutely love them! Have you been to Urban Niche in South End? Such a cute little local store.

Love Urban Niche! We live in the South End, so it’s pretty close by. I think a succulent from there would be a great idea for my desk 🙂
