Kicking off the New Year strong…

Yay, January is almost over! Normally, I wouldn’t be celebrating the month flying by, but I’m ready to start shopping again 🙂 If you’ve been following along you know I challenged myself and a few other blogger friends to a month of shopping only from our closets (read about it here!). I’ll be posting a full round up of the challenge next week.

We finally got some cold weather in Boston during January so it’s the perfect time to spend some nights at home with MJD or visit South End favorites like Toro. Another fun way to spend a cold afternoon? Afternoon tea at a local hotel! I went with my mother-in-law, sister-in-law, niece and grandmother to tea at The Langham a few weeks ago. It was such a delish time and the perfect girls’ day activity for warming up and catching up.

I did sneak away for a long weekend  to Florida with my mom to visit my grandparents. While it wasn’t super warm there, it was definitely better than the wind chill factor in Boston! It was a really nice and relaxing weekend- lots of family time and got in some good reading while travelling!

The New Year has many of us thinking about being more active and eating healthier. After doing a three day juice cleanse with The Ripe Stuff earlier this month, I’ve been trying to start my day with a healthy breakfast like my fave green smoothie or this Pomegranate & Blueberry Smoothie Bowl. XtendBarre and Flywheel have also become frequent weekend appointments :). Did you make any healthy-living goals for 2016?

What I’m reading: Working my way through my winter reading list… I definitely recommend The Good Girl for any of you who are into thrillers. This one tells the story of a girl who is kidnapped from the point of view of her mother, the detective investigating it and her captor. It’s definitely a page turner and there are a few twists that kept me guessing! I am about three-quarters of the way through Fates and Furies and I am loving it so far. Can’t wait to finish it this weekend!

What I’m watching: We binged on Making A Murderer and were really intrigued the whole time. If you haven’t watched it yet, definitely tune in if you are into crime mysteries or Serial. MJD and I also recently watched The Martian. The movie was good and I thought Matt Damon was great. This weekend is full of movie dates! Tomorrow I’m headed to see Brooklyn with one of my best girlfriends and seeing 13 Hours with Mike on Sunday afternoon. Trying to fit in some of the Oscar noms before the big event!

What I’m cooking: With so many parties and nights out in December, trying to get back into the weeknight dinner game this month! I loved this Chicken Picatta recipe and these Buffalo Turkey Lettuce Wraps from Kalyn’s Kitchen. Both were yummy and healthy!

My favorite post this month: Loved shooting at the Boston Public Library with Stephanie Krist for this look. It’s such a beautiful building! I also was excited to collaborate with Kristin from It’s Kristin and share my favorite Boston restaurant. I loved seeing so many South End restaurants on the list!  Did you have a fave post from this month?

What I’m looking forward to in February: A black-tie gala, a fun charity event to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters, Valentine’s Day, party planning for MJD’s 30th!

What are you looking forward to in February?

xoxo, Jenna
