Who is ready for the Oscars this weekend? Me (waves hand enthusiastically)!

I saw another Boston Blogger share a post this week declaring the Oscars as her Super Bowl… and I laughed out loud, but couldn’t have agreed more. I’m super excited to see all the Red Carpet fashion on Sunday, especially looking forward to seeing what some of my faves like Jennifer Lawrence and Reese Witherspoon wear.

The Oscars (or any awards show) is a perfect reason to have a girls’ night in. And what is more essential for that than some champagne and yummy snacks? I wanted to share a recipe for your Oscar night prep that included the best movie snack -popcorn- with my favorite flavor combination- peanut butter & chocolate.  My Peanut Butter & Chocolate Popcorn recipe kicks up the sweetness factor by covering your popcorn in peanut butter, honey and chocolate chips. I took a bit of the inspiration from my peanut butter and banana granola recipe and it worked perfectly for this sweet and salty treat. If you make this popcorn for your Oscars’ viewing, I am certain it will be a bigger hit than any of the dresses on the Red Carpet!

I’m lucky enough to be watching the Oscars with my mom who is in town this weekend! What are your plans for the big show?

xoxo, Jenna

You’ll Need:

Makes 6 cups

To Make:

Prepare popcorn using your favorite method (air-popped, stovetop, microwave).

Pour prepare popcorn into a large mixing bowl, removing any un-popped kernels.

Add peanut butter and honey into a microwave safe bowl or measuring cup.

Microwave peanut butter and honey for 20 second increments, until peanut butter is melted and becomes more liquid (around 40-60 seconds total depending on your microwave).

Stir vanilla extract into the peanut butter-honey combination.

Pour peanut butter-honey combination over popcorn gradually and stir to mix, coating each kernel well.

Prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Pour popcorn onto prepared baking sheet from mixing bowl.

Sprinkle mini chocolate chips evenly over popcorn.

Allow popcorn to set about two hours prior to serving (to avoid super sticky and messy hands- you can serve earlier if you don’t mind 🙂 )

What I wouldn’t do for a bite of this right now! I guess some Kombucha and fruit will have to do for my Oscars party celebration!
