Style My Closet January 2017 And Re-Creating A Classic Look

Oh January. The time of year where many of us give up things- like candy, wine, bread, insert your vice here- to start the new year off strong.  Last January I challenged myself to a 31 day no-shopping spree. I didn’t shop for the whole month and styled new looks with only what was in my closet. While it was definitely a painful 31 days for this online shopping addict, I survived and I guess I forgot how hard it was for me because I’m doing it again this January 🙂 . For the next month, I’ll be sharing my outfits from the week along with my tips for how to style your own closet. Hope you all will have fun following along with the challenge too!

One of the ways I get inspiration for new looks is from iconic and classic outfits. Chances are you probably have the classic pieces needed to recreate these looks in your very own closet. In today’s look, I’m putting my own twist on outfits worn by one of my favorite style icons, Audrey Hepburn. By combining Audrey’s camel coat look from the final scenes of Breakfast At Tiffany’s with her signature all black outfit, my look came together pretty easily.  I mean if we can’t be Audrey, at least we can dress like her… am I right, ladies?

Have you ever done a no-shopping challenge? Let me know if you have any tips for me!

xoxo, Jenna

You look so classic and chic in this outfit. Love it! I’m doing the same challenge except I said I’d go without shopping until the end of March. What did I do to myself?!

I’m doing this too! It’s proven to be very difficult but this homegirl needs to save some money! And lord knows, we have closets full of perfectly stylish clothes to get us through the month, if not longer. Good luck girl! Can’t wait to see what else you wear 🙂

I REALLLLYY should do this! I feel like I’ve cut back on shopping in general, but I want to only buy things I love (not just like) because then theoretically I will always have something to wear 😉

This is such a fabulous idea! I seriously should do this but I already broke it by buying a vest this morning ahhh. But does it count if I returned something else that was double the price?? Maybe I will restart in February! Also, amazing earrings!

I’ve been thinking/kind of doing a no shopping challenge myself. That’s awesome that you’ve kind of made it an annual challenge, some great things need repeating, right? I’ve gotten into the bad habit of buying more and saving less which I hate. This is a great way to go about saving and getting those creative juices flowing to form outfits from what we’ve got!
