A few weekends ago I was lucky enough to have a “staycation” in the city at the Boston Marriott Copley Place. My mom and sister came in from out of town making it the perfect girls weekend. If you are visiting Boston and looking for some place to stay or if you live nearby and are considering a staycation yourself, I couldn’t recommend this hotel more! It is in the absolute best location and makes for a truly Boston weekend.
Here’s a little peek at our weekend agenda and what made it truly a perfect winter weekend:
Friday:
Checked in to the hotel on Friday afternoon and couldn’t believe the gorgeous view from our room! The hotel mentioned a river view and when we got up to the 37th floor, it really took our breath away. It was the perfect setting to for a pre-dinner happy hour as we got ready for dinner.
We headed to the South End that night for dinner- this is my favorite neighborhood to go out to dinner in and it was a 10 minute walk from the hotel to “Restaurant Row” on Tremont Street. Our dinner at Aquitaine was delish- gimme all the moules frites please!
Post-dinner, my mom, sister and I headed back to our rooms at the Marriott Copley Place for some girl talk and a face masks. We introduced my mom to sheet masks for the first time and had fun taking some selfies (for our eyes only ;)) with them on. It was a great way to spend the night especially after they had traveled in that day.

Saturday:
We all woke up to see the sunrise from our corner room and I am so glad we did! Seeing the Charles River, Hancock Tower, Pru and all of downtown from that perspective was really so cool. Since we were up early, we decided to beat some of the crowds around town and get a little exercise in too by going for a walk (with coffee in hand of course!). We strolled down Boylston checking out Copley Square along the way before making our way to the Public Garden. The location of the hotel was so great as we could walk to so many places easily!
After our morning walk, we grabbed a quick bite at the hotel restaurant, Champions. Was pleasantly surprised to see a few healthy options, like the egg white and avocado frittata which I started the day with knowing I’d be eating a lot more later 🙂
Once our girls weekend was planned, I started thinking of some things to do. My mom and sister both visit us here in Boston a lot so I wanted to do something none of us had ever done before. Since we were so close to one of my favorite places in the city, Boston Public Library, we thought it would be nice to go to their afternoon tea. The afternoon tea was absolutely fabulous! A delicious sampling of tea sandwiches, plus some amazing sweets (gimme all the macarons!), champagne and of course, tea. Tea is served in The Courtyard restaurant and overlooks the beautiful central courtyard. I loved everything about it, especially the cute details like the menus inside books (#booknerd). Trying new things in my own city always makes for a perfect weekend and this was even better as my mom and sister were there too!
What would a girls’ weekend be without some shopping? We hit up some of our favorite stores on Newbury, in the Prudential Center and Copley mall that afternoon. Luckily our hotel room was a quick hop away to drop off our shopping bags!
After covering a lot of steps that day (I think we may have decided we walked 9 miles, haha), we took a bit of time to relax in the hotel room before dinner. One of the rooms we stayed in was a super spacious suite with a great couch and tv situation- perfect for watching some pre-dinner tv. By the way, The Blind Side was on tv that night and we totally got sucked in- haven’t seen it in so long and forgot how good that one is!
For Saturday night dinner, we decided to head some place in Back Bay. Whenever my mom comes into town, we like to go out for seafood since there are so many good places here. Our dinner at Select Oyster Bar was amazing, as always (read more about it here). I love their artic char and we ordered their brussels sprouts for the first time which were SO good. After dinner, we grabbed a night cap (and something sweet 😉 ) across the street at Towne.
A quick walk back through the Pru (so nice to be able to walk inside to get back to the hotel, since it was really cold at night!) and we back in the comfort of our room and cuddled up in our beds to get some rest.
Sunday:
Got a bit later start to the day- thanks to sleeping in, but also some elevator delays (only downside to staying on the 37th floor is that elevator took a little bit of time Sunday when it was busy). We headed back to Champions for breakfast. In addition to their full menu, they offer a brunch buffet on Sundays, which looked great. I ordered the avocado toast from the menu and it was so yum! Two full slices of avocado toast topped with a hard boiled egg 🙂
We were able to get a late checkout so that let us spend some more time walking around Back Bay that morning (taking a few blog photos) and stopping in a few stores we had missed the day before. After a few hours, we had to pack up and sadly start to wrap up the weekend 🙁
Thanks to the amazing bellhop and valet staff at the hotel- our departure was super easy. I honestly wish I took a picture of how many bags and how much stuff us three girls had for a two night stay. It was hysterical. Oh and it looked like we own stock in Longchamp with all our Longchamp weekender bags and totes 😉 .
After our stay at the Boston Marriott Copley Place, I’m convinced it’s definitely the place for a perfect winter weekend in Boston- whether you are visiting from out of town or on a staycation like me- because of
- The location: hands-down, the central location is amazing! And makes it easy to get to all the city’s major attractions, whether by foot or public transportation.
- The convenience: With a Starbucks right downstairs, all the best stores connected to the hotel, you don’t even need to go outside! Perfect when it’s super cold 🙂
- The view: always fun to see a city from a different view and the river view rooms at the Marriott are seriously amazing! (seen in the very first pic in this post!)
Thanks for following along on our perfect winter weekend and thanks to Boston Marriott Copley Place for hosting us for a girls weekend to remember!
xoxo, Jenna
