Hi guys-I’m excited to start a new series today on the bloggity blog! It’s been quite a while since I shared one of my reading lists here and if I’m being honest, it’s probably because I hadn’t been reading quite as much. Not sure what it was, but I took a few months off from reading and just started back up in the last month. Since I’m back in the swing of things, thought I’d share with you what I’ve been reading, watching and listening to lately and what’s up next.
What I’m Reading:
A Man Called Ove: Loved this book about a grumpy older man and his relationships with his neighbors. It will make you smile, cry and just feel good.
How To Murder Your Life: Picked up this book before my trip to Puerto Rico, thanks to Grace’s recommendation. An amazing memoir by Cat Marnell, a former beauty editor for Lucky Magazine that details her struggle with addiction- I couldn’t put this book down. I love reading memoirs and this one was really good.
Don’t You Cry: I’ve talked about Mary Kubica’s books before like Pretty Baby and The Good Girl. If you are into thrillers, I would definitely recommend picking this one up. When her roommate disappears, Quinn tries to find her, but instead finds some strange clues. Read this one cover to cover on a four hour flight- it’s a real page turner and it had me guessing until the end!
What I’m Reading Next:
The Girls: Finally catching up on this one which was named one of the best books of 2016. My bestie was reading it and just let me borrow her book so I’m ready to dive in soon. Based in the 60’s in California, I’m super intrigued by this book about a cult and the girls that are a part of it.
All The Missing Girls: Another book, another thriller. According to Amazon, this book tells the story of two missing women, but in reverse. I think it will be perfect for an upcoming beach vaca.
What I’m Watching:
The Sopranos: MJD and I put in some serious hours re-watching this series from the beginning. I had never seen it, but it was so good and totally reminded me that HBO has had the best shows always and forever. You probably aren’t looking for something to binge now that it is nice out, but don’t forget about this one when next winter rolls around. It’s amazing – and apparently Carmela started influencing my fashion choices if you read this post 😉 !
Girls: Girls was always a guilty pleasure show for me that I would watch when MJD was out (it’s probably his least favorite). It’s made me laugh, cry and cringe over the years so I had high expectations of the last season and it definitely had me doing all three of those things. I won’t spoil anything for you, but here’s my summary: I wish Elijah was my best friend, friendship is tough in your 20’s and the second to last episode felt more like a finale than the actual finale. If you watch, leave me some comments with your thoughts!
Lion: Finally saw this movie and it’s my new favorite of all the award-nominated films. If you don’t already know, it tells the story of a boy who gets lost in India, adopted by a family in Australia and his journey to find out more about his childhood and family. It’s based on a true story and I happen to have a major crush on Dev Patel, too so there’s that 😉
What I’m Watching Next:
Big Little Lies: Loved the book so I can’t wait to watch this one. Everyone has been saying how great it was, plus Reese is my favorite!
What I’m Listening To:
S-Town: Another awesome podcast from the creators of Serial. I started this one thinking it was going to be about something else, but it took a different path in the second episode and I was totally hooked. I really liked it and thought it was a cool profile of an interesting person.
John Mayer’s The Search For Everything: Ah-mazing! I’ve been loving all the teaser songs from John Mayer and am so happy that the full album is now out. My faves: Emoji of a Wave, Love on The Weekend and You’re Gonna Live Forever in Me.
What should I read, watch or listen to next? Would love your recommendations!
xoxo, Jenna
I love this idea for a series! I am a big (and fast) reader too, but I definitely go through phases with it. Thanks for the suggestions!

Thanks Danielle! I am a fast reader too- once I get in to something!
This is such a fun series to start!
I’m with you on HBO shows. We just finished Breaking Bad Season 4 last night and that season finale proved it’s easily one of the best shows to have ever been on TV. Big Little Lies is captivating for the gorgeous landscape equally as much as the story – I’m about halfway through . You’ll enjoy it!

I’m in 2 book clubs and read The Girls for one and All the Missing Girls for the other… at the same time… it was quite hard to keep them separate haha but both were SO GOOD! I will have to look into your suggestions! Also, we read Big Little Lies for book club and then RM and I just watched the series- SO GOOD! RM especially loved it and wanted more haha
