Office ootds, wear-to-work, office fashion. I’ve talked about my office style a bit on the blog before, but regardless of the fun name I give it, shopping for work clothes and picking out what to wear each weekday isn’t always fun or easy! Maybe it’s because I’d much rather go shopping for a fun date night dress than a black pencil skirt or because my brain isn’t fully functional at 5:30 AM when picking out an outfit, but getting my office looks together can take serious work. Lucky for me (and all of you too!), there’s MM.LaFleur! The brand’s founder, Sarah started the company because she felt the same way about all the boring and blah work outfit options during her Management Consulting career. Her mission for the company: to take the work out of dressing for work- how perfect does that sound?!
MM.LaFleur recently opened a pop-up showroom on Boston’s Newbury Street– making it super convenient for me to refresh my work wardrobe for the new summer season. Even if you don’t live near Boston (or one of the other showrooms), they offer a fashion bento box for online shoppers- complete with four to six items picked out especially for the shopper by their stylist. Before you arrive at MM LaFleur’s showroom or order a Bento box from them, there is a quick survey you can take to let the stylists know a bit more about your personal style. The focus is on your office dress code and your personal style. You can also add comments to the survey like- “I need something for an interview” or “I only wear black dresses” to be sure your stylist has all your preferences. Of course, you can do this in person easily if you are headed to the Boston (or one of the other) location. When I arrived, I made sure my stylist knew I wasn’t afraid to wear color and that is how I ended up with this truly gorgeous orange dress!
When I first entered the showroom, I instantly fell in love with the simplistic décor and welcoming vibe. My stylist, Eileen had already pulled a number of fabulous looks before I arrived which made our time together super efficient- which is great for us busy ladies! As we are heading into summer, I told Eileen I would love some new dresses because they make getting ready so easy- just throw on and go. Both of the dresses I am wearing today make a statement which I love even more. Whether it’s the color or the unique wrap accent of the Femi dress or the sophisticated pairing of Cynthia dress with the Albright jacket, both bring style to the office in a classic way. The other thing I love about both pieces? They can definitely be worn outside the office too! MM.LaFleur’s site recommends wearing the Femi to a wedding and I can totally see that. With some serious Jackie O vibes, the Cynthia dress is perfect for summer brunches in Newport, Nantucket or any nautical town.
In addition to these two summer-ready looks, I absolutely fell in love with the Foster pant. Lovingly called the office yoga pant by the in-store stylists, these pants were some of the comfiest black “work” pants I had ever tried! Add to their amazingness- they are also machine washable and have a button inside the pant to shorten the hem so you can alter the length for heels and flats. I’m obsessed and am already plotting which color I need next (the Foster comes in four colors currently). The Foster is a great basic which to me is a necessity in every working girl’s closet.
My visit to MM.LaFleur was the perfect way to take the work out of shopping for work clothes and refresh my wardrobe for summer. Boston ladies, the showroom is open now through December 21st, so make an appointment for yourself to give your work wardrobe a makeover for summer, fall or winter! If you aren’t in Boston, don’t worry- you can shop the full collection online by ordering individual pieces or by Bento Box for a box of stylist-selected picks. Now I can with a straight face say- happy “work clothes” shopping!
