It’s been a little over a month since my last “What I’m reading, watching and listening to” post and I actually have a whole bunch of book recommendations for you guys! I absolutely love reading, but I find I read the most when I’m sitting at the beach or traveling. For some reason when I am at home I find a million other things to do… sure you all can relate to that 😉 . Anyways, hoping to plan for more reading time as summer wraps up and so do beach days. Because cozy fall days reading can be just as nice, right?
What I’m Reading:
Hillbilly Elegy: A memoir written by J.D. Vance, this book was well written and an eye-opening look into life growing up in Appalachia. The memoir tells the story of J.D.’s childhood and into adulthood but shares facts about the region and the people that live there as well. Â Highly recommend this book- while it is informative, his writing reads like a novel.
First Comes Love: When looking for a beach read to download, I randomly decided to search for Emily Giffin because I always like her books and they are quick reads for me. I had never read this one which was more about family dynamics than romance, but I really liked this story of two sisters at very different points in life.
Truly Madly Guilty: Another author I can always count on- Liane Moriarty. I think Truly, Madly, Guilty is her most recent book. This was a good read and for the first half of the book I was on the edge of my seat wanting to know what happened at the barbecue they kept referencing! While it was good, I liked some of her other books like The Husband’s Secret and Big Little Lies better so read those first if you haven’t yet.
The Woman in Cabin 10: I literally could not put this book down! This thriller about a travel journalist who is invited on a review trip for a new luxury cruise line who thinks she has witnessed something sinister was a real page turner. I read it in less than two days and had so many of you writing into my instagram stories letting me know you liked it too.
The People We Hate At The Wedding: Â This book made so many best of summer book lists so I had to pick it up. It’s an entertaining read of two siblings and their half sister as they prep for her wedding. It’s one of those books that perfectly describes the family dynamics and leaves you feeling for each and every member of the family.
What I’m Reading Next: I finally downloaded Crazy Rich Asians which will prob be my next beach read, also have Cork Dork and Saints For All Occasions on my nightstand.
What I’m Watching:
Game of Thrones: Obviously… At the risk of ruining this for anyone else who isn’t caught up, I won’t say much, but gosh this season is SO good! Jon Snow forever 🙂
Ozark: MJD and I got into this show recently on Netflix about a financial advisor who works for a drug cartel and has to move to the Ozarks. Jason Bateman and Laura Linney are awesome in it!
Diana: In Her Own Words: As a self proclaimed Royal Family lover, I couldn’t wait to watch this documentary that includes actual clips of Diana speaking in never-before-heard interviews. It was so interesting to hear more from her point of view, but it was absolutely heartbreaking to listen to a lot of the emotional struggles she dealt with during her marriage. Must watch for anyone who loved Princess Di as a girl.
What I’m Listening To:
Up and Vanished: If you like true crime or unsolved cases type podcasts, you must start Up and Vanished. Thanks to Danielle of A Sequined Life, I can’t wait to get in the car so I can listen to this podcast. Whatever you do, don’t google it as things are happening real time- just listen. Trust me, you true crime lovers will get as sucked in as I did.
Okay now it’s your turn- what should I read, watch and listen to next? I always love your recommendations!
xoxo, Jenna
The woman in cabin 10 was a serious favorite of mine – I couldnt finish the people we hate at weddings, but I loved Grant’s first book a few years ago! xo, Biana-https://goo.gl/FUcpkp

I’ll have to check out Grant’s first book then! I also want to read the new book by the same author as The Woman in Cabin 10.

Yay, I love when you do these posts! And I’m so glad you love U&V as much as I do!
