My 2018 Planner and How I Use It For Blogging

The start of the new year means the start of a new planner! Call me old fashioned, but I still loving using a paper and pencil planner to keep track of my schedule, important dates and to-do lists. Of course I use my phone for my calendar too, but I’ve always been some one who retains information better by writing things out. It is like it makes some sort of connection in my brain for me. If you happen to be the same way, there are a whole bunch of cute planners out there- and don’t worry I rounded up some of the cutest for you at every price point!

One question I get a lot from friends, family or Instagram friends is about how I get everything done for my blog on top of everything else. First I’ll say I definitely don’t get everything done… I just do the best I can and prioritize! But it is important for anyone who is interested in writing a blog of their own that they know there is a lot of work that goes into it. My planner is something that has helped me over the last few years with blogging and sticking to a schedule.

I use my planner to track blog content on a monthly basis, a weekly basis and to keep a running list of ideas. For me, planners like my ban.do one are super helpful for this as they have a monthly calendar view as well as a weekly view.I use the monthly view to plan out what blog posts I am going to post over the course of the month- hopefully with some diversity :). This helps prevent posting say two reading list posts back to back and also helps me know what photos I need to take when. For the weekly calendar, I use this to two different ways. First, I use it to keep track of different events or nights out with friends to get an idea of what is on my plate for the week. Secondly, from a more blog specific perspective, I’ll use the weekly calendar to plan out my weekly blog posts and my Instagram posts. I typically post on Instagram more often than I do on the blog because it is quicker and more instant. However, I like to have an idea of what I’m going to share just so I don’t go several days without posting and start to stress out because I don’t have anything to share. Sundays are usually my day to go through my weekly calendar and it is a perfect time to start thinking about my posts and making sure I have what I need.

Hope those of you who are interested in blogging enjoyed a bit more about the steps I follow 🙂 Would you like to hear more about how I prep for blog posts? Leave me a comment below and I can try to work on something more detailed 🙂

xoxo, Jenna

I really should do this but I don’t have time 🙁 Instead I have a general idea in my head every Sunday and I try to work through it each night after Nathan goes to sleep… #momlife

You are always posting great content- and so frequently!- so clearly whatever you are doing is working, Jessica! I so admire how you get it all done with your little one and hope I can do the same! So basically I need you to teach me your ways 😉
