Sorry for the indoor pics guys, but it’s been absolutely freezing so my motivation for taking outdoor outfit photos has been lacking. In fact, my motivation to go outside in general has been lacking. Fine by me because it’s pretty much the perfect excuse and perfect weather to hunker down inside with a good book or a good movie (catch my most recent reading list here!).
The only downside to this is I tend to feel a tiny bit guilty when Netflix asks me if I’m still watching after several hours of binging The Crown (seriously, why does it need to ask that?). With the cold weather weekends, I’ve been trying to think of some projects I can get done around the house when the sub-zero temps have me staying inside. If you are wanting to be a bit more productive on the next winter day, here are a few things on my “To-Do” list:
- Clean out the junk drawer– We all have one, right? I actually probably have multiple- one in my kitchen, one in my dresser, one in my desk. It holds all the random papers or items you barely use, but that you might need. Or on the other hand it might hold some very important items like scissors or tape that you can’t find when the time comes because all your other junk is in there. I’m hoping to tackle this one with tips from one of my fave home decor bloggers, Kelley Nan.
- Purge my closet– Maybe it’s the fact that a lot of my clothes don’t fit right now- I’m just like Regina George when she says “This is all that fits me right now!”- but I’ve realized how many items I have that I don’t wear regularly. When it comes to cleaning out the closet, I like to use the one year rule when getting rid of something. If you haven’t worn it in one year, say bye-bye! From there, I organize into items that can be sold (I like doing this at local consignment shops), donated to Goodwill or if in really bad shape, thrown away.
- Make a photo book for recent trips and memories (finally!)– It’s pretty obvious I like taking a lot of pictures from the fact that I have this blog. But really my photos get uploaded here or on Instagram and that’s it! With all our exciting trips this past year, I want to carve out sometime to make a photo book so we can look back on those memories whenever we want. Embarrassingly I haven’t made a photo book since our 1 year anniversary trip to Paris… over two years ago now 🙂
Do you have any other ideas for projects you can do around the house when it is super cold out? Let me know in the comments below as I am sure there are a lot of other things I can be doing 🙂
xoxo, Jenna

I like this blog post and your ideas! I was uber productive during our snow days and actually did a lot of clearing myself. Still a lot I could do (after 6 years in my spot), but it was a start!
