Boston Valentine’s Day and Galentine’s Day Date Ideas

With the quintessential date night of the year (Valentine’s Day) right around the corner, I thought it’d be fun to hear from some of my best Boston bloggers gals as to how they are celebrating in the city we call home. Whether you are celebrating Valentine’s Day with your guy or looking to do something fun for Galentine’s Day with your chicas, these ladies have ideas for everyone- from going out to staying in!

My favorite date-activity with my husband is to visit some of the local breweries that we love! We hit up Trillium Brewery, Untold Brewing, and have on our list to go visit Night Shift Brewing too. I think we’ll pop into a local brewery for a beer and snacks this Valentine’s Day weekend.

My boyfriend and I aren’t big on Valentine’s Day. We’ll maybe get each other something small (i.e. our favorite lip balm or candy), but we never go out for it. Because of that, I’ll be celebrating Galentine’s Day instead. My idea of the perfect Galentine’s Day is getting mani/pedis (Miniluxe is always a safe bet) and then enjoying a good chat over a hot cup of the most decadent hot chocolate from LA Burdick.

My husband and I usually don’t do much for Valentine’s Day – it’s just not our thing. You can find us cuddled up at home with takeout, wine and our 2-year-old Evie and dog Bella

Every February, three of my girlfriends and I get together for our annual Galentine’s tradition – some combination of margaritas and prosecco, and making our love predictions for the next year: who will get engaged, who will buy a house together, who will get knocked up…favorite gossip headquarters in Boston include Tico, Trade, Lolita, and Yvonne’s, and this year we’re adding Citrus & Salt to the mix!

It’s always hard when Valentine’s Day falls during the week so my husband and I will celebrate the weekend after with a fun brunch. Choosing the location is always a surprise for one of us – we like to switch off with whose turn it is to make the reservation and it’s a little element of surprise for one of us when we get to the restaurant! We opt for brunch because who doesn’t love brunch food and it’s often a little less chaotic than trying to do a dinner.

I love Valentine’s Day! It is such a nice reminder to celebrate the love in our life, whether family, friends, or romantic love. We have a two year old at home, so this year rather than struggle to get a babysitter on an in-demand night, we are planning to enjoy a special dinner and a nice bottle of wine at home after she gets tucked into bed. (And I’ll probably make some chocolate cake!) The most important thing is spending time together!

Galentine’s day is one of my favorite girls nights- my group of friends and I have been celebrating for 3 years now! This year we are going to an improv show and dinner at the new tropical themed sushi restaurant, Tiki Rock Bar!

The past few years MJD and I have made it a point to try a new restaurant for Valentine’s Day- that way the traditional dinner date is a bit more special. The last two years we went to Townsman and Frenchie. This year we have a reservation at Little Donkey which we have both been dying to try (not sure why we haven’t gone yet!). We are celebrating over the weekend since the actual holiday falls on a week night, so the night of we will probably make a nice dinner together too to get the best of both- going out and staying in!

I love all of these ideas (and all of you)! Wish I’d gotten my act together to get mine to you, haha. But I am doing a night at the Revere Hotel and dinner at Citrus & Salt with my Galentines the weekend before!
