Back with one of my favorite posts to put together- and often one of my most requested- my recent reading, watching and listening list! Okay so I slacked on the listening portion this month unless you count Taylor Swift’s Reputation album which has been on constant repeat 🙂 . Just means I need y’all to leave me some podcast recommendations pretty please! Be sure to let me know what you’ve been reading and watching too!
What I’m Reading:
The Lying Game–My thriller for the month 😉 After flying through Ruth Ware’s The Woman In Cabin Ten, I couldn’t wait to read her second book. The Lying Game tells the story of four friends from high school who reunite later in life. The girls thought they escaped a long-ago night during their teenage years, but it has come back to haunt them after a body is found on the beach they used to frequent. Another quick thriller read that was full of twist and turns all the way up until the very end.
The Last Mrs. Parrish–Â This chick-lit read starts off from Amber’s point of view. Amber moved to Connecticut with one goal in mind- seducing and marrying Jackson Parrish, one of the richest men in America. Only issue is that Jackson is already married to Daphne. Amber decides to befriend Daphne as part of her master plan. About halfway through the book, it switches to be told from Daphne’s point of view in this story of deception, romance and juicy details. I first heard of this book from Reese Witherspoon’s book club Instagram which has tons of good book recs!
Fitness Junkie– When wedding gown designer Janey is asked by her gay best friend and business partner to take a sabbatical and lose some weight after she is seen eating a pastry in the front row of a fashion show, she dives head first into the New York fitness scene. This is a must read for anyone who has ever been to a boutique fitness studio, purchased an $10+ smoothie or bought leggings at Lululemon. It’s a fun read of a woman who finds herself while working out.
A Simplified Life: Tactical Tools for Intentional Living– I had been seeing this book float around on Instagram a bit and was intrigued to read it myself- I mean we can all use a little simplification in our life right? This book is full of useful tips and to-do lists of tasks to help you simplify every area of your life- from your closet to your kitchen to your entertaining style. As a mom to be, I especially liked reading her perspective on balancing work, mom life and a household.
What I’m Watching:
The Crown, Season 2–Â I love me anything Royal Family related so it is no surprise I am a fan of The Crown. Not only is the history of the royal family super interesting, but I actually feel like I learn a lot about British history and world events from this show too. Would love to hear if you’ve watched Season 2 in the comments below.
I, Tonya– Been wanting to see this movie for a while so was excited when one of my girlfriends wanted to too! The movie did not disappoint- Margot Robbie and Allison Janney were both amazing as Tonya Harding and her mother. If you grew up in the era of Nancy Kerrigan and Tonya Harding, I think you’d love this movie. It definitely made me a bit sad though- I really didn’t know a lot about Tonya Harding outside of figure skating and the whole Nancy Kerrigan thing. If you saw the movie, would love to hear your thoughts!
Anything else I should be reading, watching or listening to? Recommendations in the comments please!
xoxo, Jenna

Thanks Danielle! I’m so happy you like them 🙂
I have A Simplified Life and Mrs Parrish on my list at the library right now, starting that Celeste Ng book “little fires everywhere” this weekend — I ‘ve heard so many good things about it. And I am obsessed with the crown! There’s a new book about Wallis Simpson out that I was hoping to read too since I can’t get enough of the royals after watching it!

I somehow haven’t read that one yet, but read her first one and loved it! I bet it will be great. I think you will like the other two as well!
