Five Ways To Wear Chambray
As someone who writes her own blog and is an avid reader of many fashion blogs, this might be a bit weird to say, but the hyper consumerism and just general over shopping associated with fashion blogs has really started to get to me. Maybe it’s just a new phase in life- don’t get me wrong I love shopping for new clothes, but it just isn’t realistic to wear items only once like many fashion bloggers seem to portray. I feel like I’ve tried to showcase items multiple times on the blog-whether it’s accessories (y’all are probably sick of my leopard clutch 😉 ) or a good pair of white denim, but after some positive responses to my post styling this floral top two ways, I thought it would be fun to share this type of styling “challenge” more frequently.
In today’s post I’m sharing 5 ways to style a chambray shirt. What I love about today’s post is I literally only bought one item- a new chambray shirt (which I was in need of postpartum)- and was able to make 5 different outfits just from things I had in my closet. I am very confident you could replicate these looks in your own closet too,! Most of these looks are more appropriate for cooler temps, but I shared one basic “spring/summer” look. There are so many other possibilities for a chambray top in the warmer weather so maybe I’ll do this again once the weather warms up. Regardless I think today’s post proves the versatility of chambray! While I am hoping today’s post inspires you to shop your own closet, I’ll link to exact and similar items in the “Shop The Post” widget at the bottom of today’s post if you MUST shop 🙂
The Canadian Tuxedo- Denim on denim aka the Canadian Tuxedo. In my opinion it works best when your two pieces of denim are different shades, like the lighter chambray top and the dark jeans here. I also love to break things up with a pop of color. Red goes well with blue obviously 🙂
Olive Chambray- I’m equally as in love with these olive pants as I am with this chambray top. The pants are just about as versatile as the top! This outfit would be super cute in the fall. If you don’t have a pair of olive pants, don’t worry. Chambray looks great with any colored pant so grab whatever is in your closet and put your own spin on it!
The Olive Canadian Tuxedo- A combination of the first two looks, I literally put this one together as I was snapping photos after remembering I had this army jacket (linked to a very similar version) in the closet I was taking pics in front of. Adding a colored layer and a fun accessory like the leopard scarf gives the Canadian Tuxedo a completely different look.
Layered Chambray- You can wear chambray as a layer under your favorite cardigan or sweater blazer (I love this one from J.Crew which comes in a ton of color options) for an easy look pulled together look that has a bit more warmth in the colder months. Perfect for us Boston girls who want to wear our new top when it is only 30 degrees out 😉
The Spring/Summer Classic- Chambray and white jeans, it’s a match made in heaven. If you have these two pieces in your closet the possibilities are literally endless as you add different accessories such as brightly colored earrings, sandals, espadrilles, your favorite straw bag, a cute hat… like I said the possibilities are endless!
Do you have a chambray shirt in your closet? What’s your favorite way I’ve styled my chambray?
