Morning routines- they set the tone for your day. I don’t know about you, but if my morning is haphazard and frazzled, I feel that way well into the day. It’s because of this that I’ve gotten in to the habit of waking up an hour before Nicholas during the week. We are very lucky that Nicholas is a good sleeper and generally sleeps until about 7 each morning. Waking up that hour before him gives me time to shower, get dressed or catch up on anything I want to get done around the house, but can’t do as easily with him around. Sometimes that is checking and responding to e-mails, other times it is unloading the dishwasher. I also personally feel much more “together” if I’m dressed for the day before he wakes up- that can mean anything from jeans and a tee to running clothes if we are going for a run later- it just means out of pajamas 🙂
Another thing that I like to do in my morning alone time is eat breakfast. Eating meals with a toddler is not always the most fun- Nicholas loves to grab at my food, maul it, take a bite and then try to give it back. Not the most appetizing 🙂 I’ve recently been eating Hood Cottage Cheese for breakfast. Not only is it delicious, but it is loaded with protein- between 10-13 grams depending on which type you choose. I have three different variations of eating it in the morning- the easiest is to just grab one of the single serve options, open and eat. The sweet single serve cottage cheese with pineapple is my favorite for this. My second variation is adding fresh berries to the single serve country style cottage cheese. If I’m feeling hungrier or know I need something heartier for that day, I’ll toast an english muffin, spread the country style cottage cheese on top and top with everything seasoning. It’s like a healthier bagel and cream cheese combo that I don’t feel guilty about!
Getting up before Nicholas and fueling up with Hood Cottage Cheese has helped me start my days on the right foot and with a delicious breakfast!
