I love celebrating Galentine’s Day! I swear my sister and I invented this before it was even a thing. She is and always will be my Valentine!
It all started eleven years ago (ouch, that makes me feel old). My boyfriend (not MJD clearly) and I had broken up at the beginning of the year and with Valentine’s Day a quick six weeks after I was feeling pretty melancholy. I decided I’d take a trip home for the weekend to avoid reality. My sister decided we should go on a sister date for Valentine’s instead! We started it off by going to see the movie Confessions of a Shopaholic and ended by eating ice cream for dinner. Pretty much the perfect Galentine’s Day date if you ask me 🙂 My sister is six and a half years younger than me, but even at only 15, she knew that chick flicks and ice cream can cure just about anything. She’s a smartie!
Ever since our first Galentine’s date in 2009, we’ve tried to celebrate each other for the holiday. As she lives in New York and I’m obviously in Boston, a Galentine’s Day Care Package is an essential! I’m guessing you have at least one good girlfriend who lives in a different city than you who would love to receive a Galentine’s care package so I thought I’d share a few of the items that go into making my care package!
Something festive to pack your Galentine’s goodies in– You can get a cute gift box like the blush pink and gold one I am using at HomeGoods. I like using the gift box because then you don’t have to wrap, basically can just stuff it filled with goodies and send! Of course there are tons of cute Valentine’s Day wrapping papers which would be awesome to wrap a standard box in too.
Something for pampering– We can all use a little pampering so this is a great thing to include in your care package. Whether it is sheet masks, a new nail polish color or a gift certificate for a mani/pedi, your Galentine will absolutely love the surprise.
Something personal- I’m guilty of never printing out recent photos so for this year’s care package I printed out a cute pic of me and my sis from over the holidays and popped it in an Instagram size frame. Besides a photo, your something personal could be an item that is an inside joke between the two of you, something monogrammed, or maybe something of yours she always wants to borrow.
Something sweet– Is it even Valentine’s Day if you don’t have candy? Call us weird, but my sister and I love the candy conversation hearts so they are always a part of our Galentine’s Day!
Getting a care package or even a snail mail card in the mail is always an amazing surprise! With a Galentine’s Day care package, you can surprise and celebrate your girlfriends who are always there for you. Is there anyone more worthy of a day of celebrating?
xoxo, Jenna
