Growing up one of my favorite pieces of Christmas decor was our advent calendar. I’m talking about a decor advent calendar, not one with a little piece of candy in it each day. The calendar was a cloth Christmas tree where you added an ornament to the tree for each day. On the 24th, the ornament was a Santa Claus! We hung it on the door down to our basement which was right off the kitchen so you’d walk by it several times a day and could see how many days were left until Christmas.
I want to get an advent calendar for our house this year to use with the boys. I think Nicholas will find it really fun and hopefully Peter will too in a few years. I love taking traditions like this from my own childhood and bringing them to my family now. If you are looking for an advent calendar of your own, these are some of the ones I’ve found while shopping. I’m leaning towards the Pottery Barn Kids options as I want to have something fun and festive for the boys!
