Postcards from Newburyport: My Newburyport Travel Guide

I recently had the chance to visit Newburyport for a long weekend hosted by The Busy Creative in partnership with the Newburyport Chamber of Commerce, Sandy Cheeks Homes and Runway For Recovery. Newburyport is a classic coastal New England town with a darling downtown that could be out of a TV show (maybe Gilmore Girls) and beautiful beaches on nearby Plum Island. Newburyport is located on Massachusetts’ North Shore and would be ideal for a day trip if you call MA home or a long weekend get away if you are looking to explore New England. Here were some of my favorite things to do, places to visit and eat in Newburyport- be sure to save this post for any future trips!

Where To Stay:

Rent a home with Sandy Cheeks Homes As Plum Island residents, Sandy Cheeks Homes can point you to a great home for your party to stay in while visiting. We were hosted by Sandy Cheeks in beautiful waterfront homes that would be great for family vacations or girls trips! Newburyport and Plum Island are a bit unique as there aren’t any hotels in the town (only a few bed & breakfasts) so renting a home is the way to go!

What To Do:

Stroll downtown Newburyport and the Waterfront- Newburyport is a town you just want to stroll around and explore, stopping in different shops and cafes along the way! The Waterfront area was especially pretty in the fall with the combo of foiliage and water views and is home to many of the events in town (like Octoberfest!).

Try a class at Fuel Training Studio Want to get your fitness on during your visit to the Newburyport area? I took a Barre Fusion class which was a combo of barre, yoga and some strength. I loved it- thanks Jessie 🙂

Visit the beaches on Plum Island- The beaches on Plum Island are beautiful and worth a visit no matter what time of year it is. If you are the biking type, you can also do a bike ride through the nature preserve with Great Freedom Adventures.

Where To Shop:

There was lots of great shopping in Newburyport! I could spend a whole day just browsing the stores- these were some of my favorites.

Charleston And Coco The perfect spot for cute women’s fashion pieces, jeans and accessories!

Virtue Jewelers A gorgeous jewelry store with beautiful custom pieces made by the shop’s owner

Lively Kids Filled with children’s items from favorite brands like Joy Street Kids, Maddie & Connor, Mayoral and more, this is a must visit for gifts for the little ones in your life

HAVEN Living Co. A neutral decor lover’s dream, Haven Design- pictured above!- was full of amazing home decor pieces and gift items.

Wish Basket Another fantastic home decor store located in The Tannery shopping center- the seasonal selection at Wish Basket is amazing!

Where To Eat:

Sea Level- Located right next to the Waterfront Park, Sea Level is ideally located in town and has some amazing seafood options. We ate lunch here and I loved my crab cake sandwich!

Metzy’s Cantina For delicious, casual Mexican fare, try Metzy’s! We had catering from Metzy’s and I was really impressed with it- would be great for a party too if you live in the area.

Bar 25 For a romantic or fun dinner out, definitely add Bar 25 to your list! Bar 25 offers shareable Middle Eastern and Mediterranean inspired dishes. I was also told before arriving that they had amazing cocktails and they did not disappoint- I loved The Silent Fool.

Olive’s Coffee & Bakehouse I’m not a coffee drinker so can’t speak to that, but enjoyed some delicious breakfast treats including breakfast cookies and energy bites from Olive’s! A great spot to stop for breakfast!

Have you ever visited Newburyport? I’m already thinking of making another trip!

Happy Travels!

xoxo, Jenna
