Our Five Favorite Winter Themed Books For Toddlers & Preschoolers

Until yesterday, the winter weather has pretty much been in hiding here in New England! In celebration of our first few inches of snow this week, I wanted to share five of our favorite winter themed books. My children love all of these books- and whether you live in a snowy climate or just want to read about one, I hope your children will love them too!

The Mitten Based on a Ukranian folktale, this Jan Brett classic tells the story of what happens when a boy Nikki loses his white mitten in the snow. My kids love the illustrations in the one- if you know Jan Brett, you know how beautiful they are!

The Snowy Day It is a classic for a reason! The Snowy Day is the story of a young boy enjoying his snow day and the magic that comes with a snow day.

Little Penguins This book is great for young ones- it is a super simple story of penguins bundling up and playing in the snow. Christian Robinson illustrates it and I always love his illustrations!

The Little Snowplow With a story similar to The Little Engine That Could or The Little Blue Truck, my children love this truck filled story with a lesson. The bigger trucks don’t think the little snowplow can handle a snowstorm- until a big storm comes and he has to help them.

The Little Snowplow Wishes For Snow We love The Little Snowplow so much we got the sequel 🙂 In this book, the little snowplow is left wishing for snow as the winter weeks are going by without much snow.

Do you have any favorite winter themed books you read with your children? I’d love to hear about them!

xoxo, Jenna
