Our Baby Shower

Hi friends! A few weekends ago our moms and sisters threw MJD and me the most perfect shower for Baby D. We really cannot thank them enough for planning this special day! While I shared some snaps on Instagram and my story that weekend, I wanted to share a few more here and some details about the day (including my dress and my sister’s dress which I linked below!) as so many of you had asked.
Our shower was held at Cinquecento in Boston’s South End. I really wanted to have the shower in the city, but with so many of our family members driving in from the ‘burbs for the party, finding some place with easy parking was key. Cinquecento has a parking lot right at the restaurant which made it a perfect choice. I had also been to a bridal shower there before so knew they did a great job with events! I love how their private room is on a completely different floor than the restaurant- a bunch of people mentioned to me how it felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. It really gives it an extra special feel!
Personally I’m not really into games or that kind of thing at showers which my fam knows 🙂 , so the party was a great mix of mingling, eating and ooh-ing and aah-ing over all the cute baby stuff. All the details from the day were just perfect (in my opinion) and they definitely captured my style. My mother-in-law has a serious talent with flowers (like she competes in floral competitions!) and arranged truly beautiful centerpieces filled with blue hydrangeas and white ranunculus. She knows hydrangeas are one of my favorites and the bit of blue was great addition to the white tablecloths.
From a decor front, my sister put together the cutest “clothesline” of gray, blue and white items that was hung up behind the gift table- it was a great backdrop and the light, neutral colors are definitely my vibe. You’ve probably seen a similar clothesline idea at baby showers before, but I think incorporating a theme or the mom to be’s color scheme into the selection makes it an even more meaningful piece of decor.
All of our guests also loved the baby photos of MJD and me that greeted them as they walked in. No one could get over how much M looked like his dad in one of his baby photos. I also had to laugh to see that my childhood bunny made an appearance at the party- you may think he is looking worse for wear, but my mom actually sewed up some of the holes in him before the shower!
Can’t forget about the food! Cinquecento has some delish options for brunch- I loved the fritata and also shared the french toast which was to die for, served with figs. For dessert, we had the yummiest of sweets-cake, madelines and sugar cookies made by AJ Cakes (fun fact- she went to high school with my sister-in-law and M) . The cake was a naked carrot cake and not only did it taste amazing, it was absolutely gorgeous! The dessert table was party decor in itself!
Of course the most important part of any celebration like this is the people you spend it with. M and I felt so lucky and completely overwhelmed by all the love given to us and Baby D. He has so many people that love him already and we can’t wait to introduce him to all his family and friends in a few short months. Based on the shower, he is going to be one well dressed and well loved little guy!
Special thanks to my mom, sister, mother-in-law and sister-in-law for planning a truly wonderful day to celebrate Baby Boy DiMaggio! You are the best!
xoxo, Jenna
