My Beautycounter Countertime Review
About a year ago I started using my first Beautycounter product, their fan favorite Overnight Resurfacing Peel. After just a few uses of the peel, I completely fell in love. It made a noticeable difference in my skin after only one use and after using it only a few times, my mom actually asked if I had had Botox on my “11’s”- spoiler alert: I hadn’t!
When I found out I was pregnant this fall, I decided I wanted to overhaul my skincare routine and incorporate some pregnancy and breastfeeding safe products that are effective for anti-aging. After my continued success with the Overnight Resurfacing Peel, Beautycounter was the first- and only-place I looked for this. Based on my skin which is on the dry side and my main skin concerns- fine lines, hydration and anti-aging- the Countertime Collection seemed like the best fit for me. I’ve been using the collection for the last three months and I love it! My skin is more hydrated, I feel like fine lines have been minimized and my skin looks brighter overall.
The Countertime Collection
I love that the Countertime Collection is a full regimen so it takes the guesswork out of mixing and matching products together. While I love trying out different skincare products, I do love having products I know will work well together from the get go and then can add on others or swap in things as I want. The collection includes six products- a cleanser, an essence, serum, day cream, night cream and eye cream- and is made with what Beautycounter calls their Retinatural Complex. The complex is plant based and made of Bakuchiol, a plant based retinol alternative and Swiss Alpine Rose which is key for hydration. Bakuchiol as oppossed to retinol makes it a safe option to use throughout pregnancy or breastfeeding, the line is great for anyone looking for hydration, glowing skin and an anti-aging routine, especially if you prefer using cleaner, plant based products. You can purchase the whole collection for $382 (if you bought each item individually, it would be $424) and though this is definitely an investment, the collection has been working so well for me that it is absolutely worth it. The products also last a really long time! I’ve been using mine every day for three months and only just had to replace the serum and rich cream both of which I maybe over apply I love them so much. All the other items still have a lot left after daily use! While I purchased and have been using the full collection, you may want to use individual products, so here are a bit more details and my take on what I like best!
The Individual Countertime Products
Countertime Lipid Defense Cleansing Oil– Having used more of a traditional gel or soap based cleanser before the cleansing oil took me a little bit to get used to it, however now that I’ve been using it for several weeks I am a big fan. It cleans my skin without drying it out and easily removes my everyday mascara. I feel like other cleansers have in the past given me a very squeaky clean, tight skin feeling- this was because they were drying me out more than necessary. This cleansing oil contains vitamin E which helps to maintain your skin’s natural moisture while cleansing. After using this product, I am now very into using a cleansing oil solely most days, but I will double cleanse if I am wearing heavy makeup or have a very sweaty workout or exposed my skin to a lot of elements that day.
Countertime Mineral Boost Hydrating Essence– After cleansing, you would apply this essence, which is a milky and lightweight product that preps your skin for the product you will place on it next (serum) and boosts hydration. I was impressed with the essence after the first use and think it really adds a bit of glow to your skin right away! I try to let the essence fully dry before going to the next step in my routine, so will often brush my teeth, hair, etc. while waiting for this to dry.
Countertime Tripeptide Radiance Serum– If you are just looking to purchase one product from this collection, the serum would definitely be it. I LOVE the serum and it absolutely gives you a dewy, hydrated glow instantly after using. In addition to the retinatural complex used in the entire Countertime collection, the serum contains tripeptides to increase firmness and minmize fine lines. I use this every morning before the day cream/moisturizer and then use every other night as I alternate with the Overnight Resurfacing Peel mentioned before.
Countertime Antioxidant Soft Cream– This is your daytime moisturizer with the Countertime collection. It is nice and light and a little goes a long way. The soft cream contains a flower extract which helps provide an additional layer of protection from environmental stressors too. While I do really like the soft cream, my main complaint is it does not contain any SPF. As the collection does have a number of steps, I think it would make sense to include SPF in this one rather than have to do it as an additional step 🙂
Countertime Tripeptide Supreme Cream– The supreme cream is my other favorite individual product besides the serum. This is a very rich and hydrating cream for night time- I love totally slathering this all over my face and neck. This product is best for dry skin because it is really rich so keep that in mind depending on your own skin.
Countertime Ultra Renewal Eye Cream– If I’m being honest, I wasn’t the most religious about using eye cream before this, so take that in to account, but this eye cream has helped reduce fine lines around and underneath my eyes. I don’t tend to have dark circles, but the Persian Silk Tree Extract used in the eye cream helps with this too!
Counter + Overnight Resurfacing Peel
The overnight peel is the first Beautycounter product I used and it is SO amazing I wanted to mention in this post. I use the peel every other night and let it sink in for about five minutes before using the supreme cream. It is a holy grail product for me and I would absolutely recommend!
Too Long Didn’t Read?
If my review is too long for you, let me summarize quickly- I’ve been using the Countertime Collection for the last three months and I LOVE it. This total skincare regimen made with a plant based retinol alternative is super effective for hydration and anti-aging. While there are a few star products (the serum and supreme cream are my faves), the entire collection is great and takes the guess work out of having to mix and match products!
Have you tried any Beautycounter products yet? Any other questions about the Countertime Collection I didn’t answer? Leave me a comment or drop me a message and I’ll answer!
