My Red Light Mask Review: The Light Salon Boost LED Face Mask

I’ve been an avid user of my Light Salon Boost LED Face Mask for quite a while now and after answering questions from many readers and friends on which red light mask I use I figured it was time for a review! I love the Light Salon Boost LED Face Mask and it is a key part of my nighttime routine that I aim for 5 times a week. It has definitely made a difference in my skin, both in the long and short term!
First though- why should you care about a red light mask?
Red light therapy has been shown to be powerful for anti-aging: it helps reduce fine lines and wrinkles. It also promotes collagen and elastin production which we all know helps your skin look more youthful. Red light therapy has also been shown to improve facial texture (like pore size or reduce scarring). There are other types of light therapy (blue for example is great for acne!) , but I’m only focusing on red light in this post. If you go for facials or other skin care treatments, your facialist will likely use some sort of light therapy!
Why did I choose The Light Salon Boost LED Face Mask?
I purchased this mask about a year and a half ago and at the time it was one of the first flexible masks (compared to others that are more rigid and like a hard mask). I debated buying the mask for a long time and my facialist made a good point to me before buying, the mask will only work if you actually use it. I thought the flexible nature of the mask was a deal breaker in having it be more comfortable. The mask is made of a bendable medical grade silicone. It did take a little bit of time to get used to at first, but I personally find it very comfortable and wear it while reading, watching tv, working on my computer/phone and sometimes when cleaning up the kitchen or packing lunches. I have not been the best about doing this, but because it is flexible you could also lay the mask on your neck/chest area too (they sell a separate mask for this too, but this allows you to use the one for both!)
My LED Mask Routine
The Light Salon Boost LED Mask has an automatic ten minute timer which I think is very convenient. Typically I try to do two back to back “sessions” for a total of 20 minutes 4-5 times a week. I wear my mask at night because it is when I typically have uninterrupted time and also because I like using it as part of my “wind down” before bed. My ideal is wearing it in bed while reading a book. I started storing it in my night stand and it makes it very easy for me to put on while reading and getting ready for sleep. I will layer my own serums with the mask and occasionally buy the Light Salons sheet masks (only when I buy them on sale).
Is it worth it?
For me wearing the mask regularly has absolutely improved my skin! It has diminished fine lines and evens out my skin tone. I want to be transparent here and say it has helped me most with finer lines and reducing some of my deep lines, but it won’t fully erase the deep lines (or at least it hasn’t for me) and I do still get Dysport to prevent deep wrinkles. Immediately after wearing, I feel like my skin has a glow to it. I love mine so much I travel with it (it is super easy to travel with!). But honestly the only skincare product worth investing in is one you will actually use! I find the mask to be an amazing part of my evening winddown routine so it has a very minimal cost per use at this point for me.
